Summit Legal Aid was formed when Southwestern Pennsylvania Legal Aid and Laurel Legal Services merged into a single legal aid program on July 1, 2023. Summit Legal Aid will serve ten counties including Armstrong, Cambria, Clarion, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Jefferson, Somerset, Washington, and Westmoreland.

Established in 1967, Laurel Legal Services provides free civil legal representation to low-income clients in a six-county area covering 4,372 square miles. Those counties were Armstrong, Cambria, Clarion, Indiana, Jefferson, and Westmoreland Counties. See below for information on volunteer opportunities in these counties.

Cases handled include family, consumer and housing law and public benefits within program priorities. LLS assists victims of domestic violence in Protection from Abuse actions without regard to income.
