Volunteer attorneys are needed to assist HIV+ clients living in poverty statewide with various legal issues related to or involving their HIV status. Areas in which attorneys are regularly needed include benefits, civil rights, consumer issues, debt, discrimination due to disability, employment law, health insurance, immigration, individual rights, and wills and estates. Volunteer attorneys are needed to staff advice-only legal clinics in the areas of bankruptcy/creditor/debt issues and immigration. Volunteers are also needed for simple estate planning and other general practice types of representation. Volunteer possibilities for law students include staffing our legal intake phone line, research and document drafting, and client contact observation. Attorneys are needed who are willing to work with clients whose primary language is Spanish.
