Metropolitan Economic Development Association (MEDA)

Make a difference by sharing your expertise and knowledge as a volunteer business mentor. MEDA matches attorneys with BIPOC entrepreneurs in the eleven county metro area who want to start or grow a business. Areas of service include, but are not limited to, incorporation, partnership agreements, contracts, labor and employment law, tax and business planning and real estate. Legal assistance is provided pro bono or at a reduced rate, depending on need. Attorneys may also volunteer to conduct community education seminars or participate in special onetime projects. Volunteer attorneys should have business or corporate law experience. Volunteers are not expected to provide litigation services. Attorneys generally meet clients at their own offices. However, space can be arranged at MEDA. Most meetings are held during regular business hours. Attorneys with language fluency other than English are needed.
