Virginia CLE is pleased to present The Adventures of Legalethicsman, the third annual CLE Ethics radio play, evoking the familiar characters and images of radio’s popular 1940s serial The Adventures of Superman.
Honest as a caring Boy Scout!
More loyal than a political appointee!
Able to solve huge ethical dilemmas with a single Rule!
Look! Up in the sky!
It’s an advocate!
It’s a counselor!
It’s … Legalethicsman!
Evoking the familiar characters and images of radio’s popular 1940s serial The Adventures of Superman, The Adventures of Legalethicsman presents four challenging, exciting, and amusing legal ethics dramas through the magic of old-time radio. Follow the adventures of Kal-Eth, sent to Earth as an infant escaping a dying planet, only to find that the Earth’s sun gives him unusual powers of legal ethics analysis. Disguised as meek-mannered lawyer Clark Kant, he engages in complex litigation and transactional law, until an ethics crisis causes him to transform into … Legalethicsman.
The Adventures of Legalethicsman is brought to life over the speakerphone by The Ethical Arts Players, with music, sound effects, and vivid vocal characterizations from audio professionals. After each adventure, legal ethicist Jack Marshall will discuss the difficult and current legal ethics issues raised, with special emphasis on Virginia’s Rules of Professional Conduct and new developments, including:
• Complex conflicts in organization and government settings
• The ethical limits of zeal
• Former client problems
• The ethical obligation of “knowledge”
• Correcting in-court misrepresentation
• Falsity and other courtroom tricks
And more.
The Adventures of Legalethicsman is the third “Old Time Radio” teleseminar created by ProEthics for Virginia CLE, and, like its predecessors, The Inner Sanctum of Legal Ethics and Have Rules, Will Travel, its unique mixture of parody, comedy, nostalgia, insight, and information will have you laughing as you learn. The instructor and author of the program is Jack Marshall, lawyer, speaker, ethicist, and president of ProEthics. His unique award-winning legal ethics seminars for Virginia CLE consistently garner the highest marks from participants, and The Adventures of Legalethicsman promises to be no different.
QUESTION-AND-ANSWER SESSION
At the end of the program, you can push a number on your touch-tone phone and be placed in a queue for questions. When it’s your turn, you enter the conference call in a mode that allows your question to be heard by the speakers and the rest of the telephone audience. The speakers will then discuss the question with you.
