8/21/09, Friday
A feature was added to the admin inbox of the Opportunities Guide to allow admins to download a spreadsheet of all organizations included in the Guide. Admins can use this function to create an email mail merge to organization contacts that includes a link to their organization's profile for feedback.
Disaster and Emergency Assistance was also added as an Area of Law filter in the Opportunities Guide.

New fields are now available on the Opportunities Guide Organization Profiles.
- In the General Information section, a field has been added to house an organization's Teletype (TTY) number.
- In the Program Information section:
- The "Need for Pro Bono Help" section has been renamed "Areas of law in need of Pro Bono help"
- Types of projects in need of Pro Bono help section has been added
- An open text field called Other Projects has been added

The ability to copy library resources without having to re-enter all of the data fields again has been added to the site (same functionality as on the calendar and new cases tools). This was done to help improve the new workflow created after the May upgrade which removed the ability for admins to switch file types after saving initial selection.

Weekly usage reports from the beginning of 2009 through the end of March are available now in your admin inbox.

We have updated the release notes for the May 16th upgrade. Please email support@probono.net if you have any questions or comments.
Also April and May 2009 monthly reports will be available in your Admin Inbox no later than June 8th.

We completed the scheduled upgrade this weekend and all initial factors show everything went smoothly. We are in the process of reviewing the code and site this week and will post more detailed release notes here shortly. In the meantime, please email support@probono.net if you notice any problems.

A maintenance upgrade of probono.net has been scheduled for this Saturday, May 16th. This work will require us to take www.probono.net and all related sites offline for approximately three hours at some point between 12 - 8pm ET/9am - 5pm PT. This downtime will NOT affect any LawHelp public sites nor any individual program sites.
While the site is down during that time, users accessing probono.net will encounter a message stating that the site is down for maintenance.
This code upgrade will include major enhancements to the webcasting tool, the search engine, and style options available through FCKeditor, as well as some bug fixes to new matters, listservs, and libraries, among other issues. You will be able read the complete list of enhancements and bug fixes on the Release Notes page in your admin inbox following the upgrade.

Reports have caught up through the end of March 2009 and are now available in your admin inbox. This includes Q4 2008, Q1 2009, March 2009, and other reported missing 2009 monthly reports. We are now catching up on the Weekly reports for 2009, which hopefully will be available by the end of the week. Email support@probono.net if you have any questions or are missing any of these reports.

We are working on an upgrade to probono.net for May 2009. This upgrade will include enhancements to the webcasting tool, enhancements and bug fixes to the search engine, and new style options through FCKeditor, among other issues.

Yesterday the probono.net listservs experienced an outage at our new spam filter service, Tuffmail, that caused the delays in the listserv emails. As of last night, the service was back online and listservs emails were distributed. There was NO loss of emails sent to any listservs, just a long delay. We believe this outage was one-time issue with Tuffmail (which has a very strong service history) and have been in touch with them regarding their plans going forward to mitigate this from happening again. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Reports update: The YTD reports for 2008 completed running over the weekend and should be available now in your Admin Inbox.

We are happy to report that the performance adjustments we made have greatly improved page loading times on probono.net again. Pages are loading on average 1190 ms, down from a high of 3626 ms earlier this month. We are continuing to monitor this work and make adjustments as needed. Thanks again for your patience this month!
Also, quick update on reports: December 2008 monthly reports are available in your Admin Inbox now. We are now running YTD 2008 and Q4 2008, and then will start weekly reports again.
We will also be applying a new spam filter service to the listserv tool starting next Monday, 2/2. There is no action required by administrators or listserv moderators for this to take effect. We will be monitoring its effectiveness and making adjustments as needed. We hope this helps solve the spam issue some of you are experiencing on your listservs.
Finally, we have removed the ability to search for members via the regular Search and Advanced Search. You can still search for members (and their associated meta-data such as email address) through the quick search on the Roster tool itself. We made this change in order to increase capacity in probono.net's overall search collection.

Thanks for your patience recently with the site performance issues. Earlier this week we made changes to some settings in ColdFusion and on the SQL database server that have increased site performance. We are continuing to actively monitor page response times and make adjustments as needed.
In addition, we will be doing a small patch tonight, taking the server down for about 15 mins around 11pm ET, to make some other performance adjustments. Please email support@probono.net with any questions.
