Nonprofit Law 101
This workshop will help identify many legal issues that nonprofits may face at some point during their corporate existence. It will briefly touch on legal topics such as corporate governance, compliance, employment law for supervisors, revenue-generating activities of charitable organizations, fundraising law, intellectual property, websites, and privacy law. Finally, it will highlight duties and responsibilities of directors, including directors' liability, insurance, tax, fiduciary duty and confidentiality issues.
Dealing with the Powers that Be Lobbying & Advocacy
This workshop will highlight the full range of advocacy activities that nonprofits may engage in and foundations may support. It will explore how lobbying may be conducted legally and effectively. It will also help advocacy-oriented charities understand and use Treasury Department regulations regarding lobbying activities by public charities.
