...As a member of the National Bar Association (NBA), Yohannes Assefa, an associate in the business and commercial litigation practice group at Harris Beach LLP, recently traveled to South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe with Clyde E. Bailey, Sr., senior Kodak patent counsel and NBA president, as part of the official delegation to Southern Africa.
..."I was fortunate to be part of this historic delegation to Southern Africa," Assefa said. "This was a life changing and highly enriching experience. We renewed old ties in South Africa and established new ones in the Republic of Botswana."
...Approximately 40 NBA members attended the association's 2004 International Affiliate Meeting held in Botswana this past June, where the NBA's highest honor was bestowed upon Botswana President H.E. Festus Mogae for lifetime contributions to "advancing the cause of democracy and human rights."
...During a meeting between President Mogae and NBA delegates, a broad range of issues were discussed, including international trade, progress toward gender equality, potential collaboration in the field of education, protection of indigenous intellectual property and health issues.
