* The Daily Record, National Legal Aid and Defender Association’s Emery A. Brownell Media Award Winner 2010

Kevin Momot, Publisher of The Daily Record in Rochester, New York, received the National Legal Aid and Defender Association's prestigious Emery A. Brownell Media Award at the NLADA's annual meeting in Atlanta, Georgia in November 2010. Previous Brownell Award winners include The New York Times and Chicago Tribune. The award honors newspapers, films, radio and television stations that have informed the public of the crucial role played by civil legal services agencies such as VLSP or defender organizations in ensuring equal justice for low-income people. The award is named for Emery Brownell, an attorney who began his career with the Legal Aid Society of Rochester in 1925 and served as NLADA's executive director from 1940 to 1961.
