This practice area has been designed to allow the legal community -- including public interest attorneys, law students and faculty, and lawyers from the private bar -- to consolidate our relief efforts for those affected by the events of September 11th. There has been an outpouring of support by the legal community, and many have asked how they can best help.
Inside this practice area, you will find:

  • Information about legal services needed in the wake of the September 11th tragedy;
  • Lists of ways you can get involved in providing legal and other support;
  • Substantive materials and other resources to help you once you have become involved in a project;
  • Contact information for appropriate city, state, and federal government agencies that are providing benefits and services to those affected; and more.

This space will also allow the legal community to share information so that we may provide the best possible assistance to about legal services available to those in need. If you have information or materials that you would like to contribute, please contact us at info@probono.net.

The Helping HandBook: Legal Resources for Families of Victims of the World Trade Center Disaster contains an overview of some of the legal issues that individuals and families may face.

There is also a version of the Helping HandBook for Small Businesses and Nonprofits. Both handbooks were provided by the pro bono efforts of Morrison & Foerster LLP.
