CAIR-NY, AALDEF to Co-sponsor Training Session for Lawyers

(New York, NY 11/10/09) - On Tuesday, November 10th, the New York chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NY) in conjunction with the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund (AALDEF) will host a training session with Criminal Defense Attorney Sean Maher for New York lawyers. The training session will prepare attendees to represent clients who are approached by law enforcement authorities for questioning.

WHO: Sean Maher is a Partner of Wahid, Vizcaino & Maher LLP in the firm's Midtown Manhattan office. His practice focuses on criminal defense and civil litigation. Before entering private practice, Mr. Maher was a supervising attorney at the Neighborhood Defender Service of Harlem Mr. Maher has served on the faculty of the Kentucky Department of Public Advocacy Litigation Persuasion Institute, the Southern Public Defender Training Center in Birmingham, Alabama, and the Georgia Public Defender Standards Council Trial Advocacy Program, including its Honors Program, and has been an invited speaker at Boston University, Brooklyn, Columbia, Fordham, and NYU law schools.
