This workshop is recommended for anyone interested in learning more about welfare advocacy and volunteering with Project FAIR. Topics to be discussed include how to access public benefit programs and how to assist low-income households who experience problems with public assistance, food stamps, or Medicaid.

Volunteers working with Project FAIR have the opportunity to:
- Advocate at public assistance, food stamps, and Medicaid fair hearings;
- Conduct informal advocacy on behalf of low-income and homeless individuals;
- Staff the Project FAIR information and referral table located at the central fair hearing location for New York City. (Daily shifts from 12 noon to 3:00 p.m.);
- Conduct community outreach.
Project FAIR is a collaborative, City-wide nonprofit organization working towards greater economic justice for low-income and homeless New Yorkers. Project FAIR empowers individuals and their communities by increasing access to information about public benefits, fair hearings, and community services, and by securing quality legal assistance for public assistance, food stamp, and Medicaid recipients.
- CLE Credit Comments: 1.5 Professional Practice & 1 Skills credits. This training is appropriate for both newly admitted and experienced attorneys.
