Are you interested in helping New York City homeowners facing foreclosure?

The Federal Reserve Bank and the City Bar Justice Center have organized a program to provide pro bono legal representation to individuals whose homes are threatened with mortgage foreclosure. We need your help.

Recent state and federal legislation have created new opportunities for saving homes. Participating lawyers will be trained to represent homeowners in mandatory settlement conferences now being held in foreclosure actions, as well as assist with the application for loan modifications through Making Homes Affordable, the federal plan. For cases that cannot be settled, there is ample opportunity for willing volunteers to litigate defenses to foreclosure actions. For homes that cannot be saved, volunteers can help homeowners secure an orderly transition with minimal damage to credit.

Attendees agree to represent at least one client pro bono from the City Bar Justice Center in exchange for the free CLE training. Volunteers must be attorneys in good standing admitted in New York State.
