This session will provide an overview of subprime and predatory lending and real estate practices, factors that contribute to the current crisis (including securitization), the players and the discriminatory impact on New York City neighborhoods. Learn about key federal statutes governing mortgage lending, including the Truth in Lending Act, the Homeownership and Equity Protection Act, and the Real Estate Settlement Procedure Act, as well as relevant state laws.
