This one-day program provides an update on the local issues that affect New York-based immigration practices, as well as the hot issues out of Washington. John T. Morton, Assistant Secretary, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, has been invited to provide the morning keynote address to attendees. The morning program then continues with an overview of hot topics, local government issues, new ethics rules, and tax/financial issues for immigration lawyers. The afternoon will be split in two tracks. The first will focus on practice management and specific immigration issues, covering topics like using social media to advance your practice, starting a solo practice, employer compliance and criminal issues in an immigration context. Track two will be a series of workshops, covering NTAs, difficult consular issues, PERM and a mock adjustment interview. Attendees are invited to attend the luncheon, a benefit for the American Immigration Law Foundation.
