NYLAG Seeks Pro Bono Attorneys for Haitian TPS Clinic

NYLAG is seeking pro bono attorneys to assist Haitian nationals who may be eligible for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) in the U.S. NYLAG has several clinics scheduled in the coming weeks at the Haitian Earthquake Family Resource Center at the New York National Guard Armory in Brooklyn and need up to 10 volunteers for each clinic to help interview Haitian nationals and screen them for TPS eligibility:
Saturday, March 20, 2010, 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
Wednesday, March 24, 2010, 1:00-5:00 p.m.
Saturday, March 27, 2010, 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
Wednesday, March 31, 1:00-5:00 p.m.
Wednesday, April 7, 1:00-5:00 p.m.
Wednesday, April 14, 1:00-5:00 p.m.
Wednesday, April 21, 1:00-5:00 p.m.
Wednesday, April 28, 1:00-5:00 p.m.
Location: 1579 Bedford Avenue (between Union and President Streets), Brooklyn.

Also, if you would like to come to one of the clinics and have not received training on TPS, please watch NYLAG's training video online at http://www.probono.net/ny/nyc. In order to access the video and materials it is necessary to become a member of the site (which is free). See below for details.
To join the site:
Click on "Join this Area" link in upper left corner of practice area home page (http://www.probono.net/ny/nyc) Complete new member application form and click "Submit."
The site will generate and send an email upon submission stating that the application is under review.
Within 24-48 hours, the application will be approved and an email confirmation will be sent.
To access training materials:
- Log into NYC Pro Bono Center practice area using email address and password created when application was submitted.
- Click on "Library" tab along the top of the home page.
- Click on "Training Materials" folder.
- Click on "Haitian TPS Materials" folder.
- Click on "NYLAG Haitian TPS Project Training (2-3-10)" subfolder.
The subfolder contains the training video, a copy of the PowerPoint slides used during the training, and a copy of the manual distributed.
