Amadou Ly was an illegal immigrant from Senegal whose mother left him in the United States so he could complete his education. Press coverage about his situation ultimately led to him receiving a foreign student visa. Some of his friends from Senegal have been held for months in an immigration detention center. These detainees do not receive legal representation.
