NYC Bar Association Announces Winners of the 19th Annual Legal Services Awards

New York City Bar Association has named four legal services attorneys and one non-attorney as recipients of the Nineteenth Annual Legal Services Awards, which give recognition to attorneys and non-attorneys who provide outstanding civil legal assistance to New York's poor. The Awards were presented on Thursday, May 15th, at 4 p.m. at the Association.
This year's recipients are:
JUAN CARTAGENA, General Counsel, The Community Service Society of New York
JUANITA CRUZ-CATAQUET, Paralegal Casehandler, The Legal Aid Society
KATHLEEN KELLEHER, Staff Attorney, The Legal Aid Society
MAXINE KETCHER, Senior Staff Attorney, Legal Services New York (Bronx)
JUDITH WHITING, Senior Staff Attorney, Legal Action Center
This year's Awards were presented by Hon. Carmen Ciparick, Judge, New York State Court of Appeals.
The awards are administered by the Special Committee on the Legal Services Awards, chaired by William T. Russell, Jr., and sponsored by the Committee on Pro Bono and Legal Services, chaired by Madeleine Schachter. The awards have been endowed by a generous contribution from the Horace W. Goldsmith Foundation.
