- Organization: Make The Road NY
On October 31st, over 100 members of Make the Road New York organized a press conference and demonstration in front of a Rite Aid Pharmacy in Woodside, Queens to launch our campaign against national origin discrimination at New York pharmacies.
Alongside attorneys from the New York Lawyers for the Public Interest, and other ally organizations, we announced the filing of a civil rights complaint with the New York State Attorney General's Office. City Council Member Eric Gioia joined us and committed to work on city legislation to confront communication problems in City pharmacies. Members courageously shared nightmare stories about the consequences of misunderstanding their medication regimen. We are confident that the momentum created yesterday will enable us to win equal treatment for all New Yorkers soon!
