The City Bar Justice Center's Neighborhood Entrepreneur Law Project (NELP), partnering with Stroock & Stroock & Lavan, LLP and Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP, held an introductory training on November 13, 2012, for attorneys interested in volunteering to assist small business owners who were adversely affected by Hurricane Sandy.
The training prepares volunteers for participation in an upcoming disaster assistance clinic to take place at the NYC Bar Association and additional clinics to be held throughout the affected communities, as well as for staffing legal desks at Business Recovery Centers. It covers issues related to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Small Business Administration (SBA), commercial insurance, employment and commercial landlord-tenant.
