Lawyers Foreclosure Intervention Network Training

Wednesday June 17 - Thursday June 18 , 2009

Are you interested in helping New York City homeowners faced with foreclosure?

The Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the City Bar Justice Center have organized a program to provide pro bono legal representation to individuals whose homes are threatened with mortgage foreclosure. We need your help.

Recent state and federal legislation have created new opportunities for saving homes. Participating lawyers will be trained to represent homeowners in the mandatory settlement conferences now being held in foreclosure actions, as well as make application for loan modifications through the new federal plan, Making Homes Affordable. For cases that cannot be settled, there is ample opportunity for willing volunteers to litigate defenses to foreclosure actions and this training will cover them. For homes that cannot be saved, volunteers can help homeowners secure an orderly transition with minimal damage to credit.

By participating you will: Help individuals in need; Help communities in need; Receive substantive training; Gain invaluable experience; and Earn free CLE credit.

  • CLE Credit Comments: Attendees are expected to represent at least one client pro bono from the City Bar Justice Center in exchange for the free CLE training.
