This workshop will give an overview of the different types of rental housing and rent subsidy programs that exist. You will learn about the affordable housing options available to low income New Yorkers. You will learn about the differences between the programs, the eligibility criteria for each, and how to access the housing. The programs covered include a general overview of the various forms of rent regulation, the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) public housing, Section 8 vouchers, and project based Section 8. We will touch on different types of subsidies available to special populations, including homeless individuals and families, families receiving Family Assistance (FA), youth, pregnant mothers, victims of domestic violence, people with disabilities, and people involved with the Administration for Children's Services (including family reunification and youth aging out of the foster care system).
Cost of workshop: $40.00
