Volunteer Attorneys Needed in Afghanistan

The International Legal Foundation, ILF, a not-for-profit organization based in New York, has been assisting the Interim Government of Afghanistan in setting up a legal aid system (see www.TheILF.org). In August, it will be opening the first public defender office in Kabul. The ILF is looking for volunteer American lawyers to provide legal and technical support to Afghan lawyers in the office in Kabul. Applicants must have at least three years of criminal law experience (defense or prosecution) and be available to spend 6 to 8 weeks in Kabul between September 22, 2003, and January 30, 2004. Knowledge of Dari appreciated but not necessary. Room and travel expenses provided.
