Earn 3 CLE credits while taking part in a great cause! The Empire City Invitational is New York State's first ever-international high school mock trial tournament. We are looking for local attorneys to volunteer just a few hours to serve as judges at the event. We'll also serve you complimentary food and beverages as a token of our appreciation. The third annual Empire will take place on October 16-18, 2009 at the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York in downtown Brooklyn. There are five rounds of trials—Friday evening, Saturday morning, Saturday afternoon, Sunday morning, and Sunday afternoon—and you can judge as many or as few as you like. It's a great opportunity to help high school students from across the globe. Our tournament will feature schools from 13 states and 3 countries, including the United Kingdom and South Korea. Registering is easy. Fill out our online form at: [http://empireinvitational.com/judge.html]. No litigation experience is required—anyone with a JD or significant mock trial experience is welcome to judge, and we’ll cover all of the details during a quick PowerPoint presentation before the trial. Finding volunteer judges is the most difficult part of organizing the Empire. Please circulate this announcement in your office and let your friends and/or colleagues know about the event. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me. We hope to see you in October.
