Hearing Poignant Testimony, Senate Panel Approves Medical Marijuana Usage Bill

A state Senate committee on Monday took what amounts to the first step in making New Jersey the 14th state to legalize the use of marijuana by those with chronic or terminal illness... The bill, S-119, provides that the Department of Health and Senior Services will maintain a registry of patients and of doctors who have diagnosed them as eligible for medical marijuana use. Debilitating medical conditions that would qualify for medical use include cancer, glaucoma, HIV/AIDS....
