Position Available: Legal Director, Bronx Community Office

Sanctuary for Families is New York's largest nonprofit agency exclusively dedicated to serving the clinical, economic, legal, and shelter needs of domestic violence victims and their children. We offer a comprehensive, interconnected range of services including crisis and transitional housing, individual and group counseling, legal services, housing and benefits assistance, a mentoring program, and a specialized program for children who have witnessed or experienced abuse. We are dedicated to the safety, healing, and self-sufficiency of battered women and their children.

Description:
Sanctuary for Families seeks an attorney with significant family law litigation and supervisory experience to serve as legal director of its Bronx Community Office. The BCO Legal Director is responsible for providing direct representation in family law matters to domestic violence victims in the Bronx; assessing intakes and assigning cases; supervising staff attorneys, pro bono attorneys, and a project assistant; monitoring compliance, compiling data, and reporting on BCO grant requirements; conducting and coordinating trainings and outreach events; and representing the BCO to the press, government agencies, other service provider networks, and in the local community.

Qualifications:
J.D. and Admission to the New York State Bar, with at least four years or more of family law litigation experience
Supervisory experience
Excellent public speaking skills
Experience working in the domestic violence field
Ability to monitor compliance with project grant requirements, compile data and prepare reports on project activities

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience.
