The Americans with Disabilities Act overwhelmingly changed the lives of persons with disabilities to access services that were previously limited or nonexistent. Title II of the ADA pertains to the provisions of state and local programs, services and benefits. The conference will be a discussion among legal and medical experts on ADA challenges made against the state for their inaction in making reasonable accommodations for persons with mental illness. The morning session will explore the ADA as it applies to obtaining public benefits, and the challenges met in individual cases. The afternoon session will primarily focus on the application of the ADA on cases involving neglect/abuse/ and termination of parental rights. Both sessions will examine legal strategies, cases, and the successes in raising arguments under the ADA in challenging access to public benefits and parental rights.
The event is free and lunch will be provided. Space is limited. Please register by March 15 by emailing
with your name and organization. Your registration will be confirmed via email. Also indicate if you need CLE credit.
