Lawyers Foreclosure Intervention Network
Tuesday, June 03, 2008
- Organization: City Bar Justice Center
The City Bar Justice Center and the Federal Rerserve Bank of New York are co-sponsoring a new project in response to the recent dramatic increase in home foreclosures related to the subprime lending market - the Lawyers Foreclosure Intervention Network (LFIN). LFIN provides legal assistance to low-income homeowners facing foreclosure, with the goal of keeping people in their homes. Volunteer lawyers negotiate workout arrangements with lenders and, where appropriate, represent the homeowner in litigation. LFIN will hold its first free, CLE training for volunteer attorneys on June 18 and 19. If you would like to get involved please contact Carol Bockner, Director of Pro Bono Initiatives at the City Bar Justice Center (firstname.lastname@example.org) for more information.
