This class will train housing advocates in how to obtain successful post-eviction relief for their clients. This class will cover all aspects of post-eviction practice: preparing orders to show cause, conducting hearings, drafting stipulations, re-rental and the joinder of new tenants, obtaining post-eviction fees from DSS and recent case law developments on the topic. The class will consist of two parts: the first part will consist of a discussion of post-eviction law (including the New York City Illegal Eviction Law) and the second will be an in depth analysis of a hypothetical case.
