Hosted by the National Network for Domestic Violence in partnership with the Center for Survivor Agency and Justice.
Faculty: Erika Sussman, CSAJ; Moderator: Erica Olsen, NNEDV

Advocates in the movement to end violence against women know that economic justice is essential to the long-term safety of survivors. At the same time, many survivors of domestic violence find themselves with criminal justice arrests or convictions, oftentimes due to coercion experienced at the hands of their partner, and many times resulting from a misguided criminal justice system response to their partner's abuse. Survivors who have a criminal record face enormous challenges in accessing economic security. For this acutely marginalized group, barriers to employment present an increased risk of future abuse.

This webinar will explore employment rights for survivors who have criminal justice histories. Faculty will offer an overview of the law related to employment rights for individuals who have been involved in the criminal justice system, share proactive and reactive strategies for accessing employment, and identify innovative community and state resources that can enhance access to justice.
