The NYC Know Your Rights Project at the Varick Federal Detention Facility, a collaborative effort of the City Bar Justice Center, The Legal Aid Society, and the American Immigration Lawyers Association, is pleased to announce a CLE training opportunity for firms interested in providing know your rights information and brief legal advice to immigrants detained in the facility.

After training, teams from each firm are assigned monthly clinics. Volunteers interview and give individualized advice to each detainee, under the mentorship of AILA immigration experts. Participating lawyers should expect to spend six to eight hours for the clinic and follow-up.

Volunteers with foreign language proficiencies are encouraged to attend.
