Why You Should Attend: The residential mortgage market, with more than $10 trillion in outstanding loans, is in a period of unprecedented upheaval. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has estimated that losses directly related to the subprime meltdowns will exceed $975 billion. Regulators, enforcement agencies and private litigants have responded with hundreds of investigations and lawsuits. This institute will provide the practice tips that attorneys need to know to navigate the myriad issues that have emerged.

What You Will Learn: The causes of the subprime crisis and what the near future holds ;How regulators and enforcement agencies have stepped up their activity as a response to the subprime crisis; How the secondary markets are likely to adapt to the tightening of credit - and what new risks that will bring The hot button issues in class action litigation, and the steps lenders can take to mitigate their risks The special risks faced by investors in mortgage-backed securities, and what legislative developments are on the horizon that will limit these risks .
