Please join us for a colloquium on the topic of "Conditions of Confinement."

This is a full day event that will take place on Friday, October 24, 2008 at the Fordham University School of Law. Event details and registration are available at law.fordham.edu/conditions. There is no registration fee.

This event will explore the role that conditions of confinement play in our criminal justice system and litigation strategy and challenges. Speakers include Fred Cohen, Elizabeth Gaynes, Alphonse Gerhardstein, Betsy Ginsberg, Michael Mushlin, Alex Reinert, William J. Rich, Naomi Roslyn, and Donald Specter. Other participants include Commissioner Brian Fischer of the New York State Department of Correctional Services and other representatives from corrections, prosecutors, public defenders, civil rights lawyers, and advocates.

The event will be comprised of six discussion sessions that will focus on different conditions of confinement or approaches to working with conditions of confinement. Each session will begin with a ten minute presentation by one of our speakers on a paper submitted for this event.  That will be followed by a formal five minute comment, remarks by the moderator, and a thirty minute question and answer/discussion period.
Most of the pieces submitted for this event will be published in Fordham's Urban Law Journal.

For further inquiries or to register for this event you can e-mail the Fordham Law Prisoners' Rights Advocates at pra@law.fordham.edu.

Hope to see everyone there!
