Why You Should Attend: A distinguished faculty of constitutional scholars, Supreme Court advocates, civil rights experts, and Supreme Court journalists and best-selling authors will analyze, discuss and debate the leading decisions of the October 2007 Term. The faculty represents a broad spectrum of legal philosophies and views. The decisions will be analyzed in terms of their precedential, doctrinal, and, where appropriate, pragmatic and litigation significance.

What You Will Learn: The Supreme Court's October 2007 Term includes many highly significant cases involving clashes between individual and government interests, including the rights of enemy combatants, voting rights, and the Second Amendment right to bear arms. The Court's plenary docket has several important criminal procedure cases - the death penalty, the Fourth Amendment exclusionary rule, and sentencing. The Court will also decide cases concerning freedom of speech, federalism, business interests, civil rights litigation, and the supremacy clause. Full and partial scholarships to attend PLI's programs or view a webcast are available to legal aid and government attorneys, law professors, judges, judicial clerks, law students and employees of nonprofit organizations.

Scholarship applications must be submitted at least four weeks prior to the program you wish to attend. Please contact Leonard McKenzie at 212-824-5826 for additional information
