Every year thousands of teenagers "age out" of the foster care system. Often times they are provided the necessary skills but it is still not enough to navigate the "real world". This training will teach you how to work effectively with youth, how to engage them and how to enable them to identify their own strengths, develop supportive networks and begin to establish a stable life for themselves as young adults as they set goals and plan for their futures.
We will discuss the child welfare system, the regulations in place to meet the needs of youth aging out, the resources that are available to them, and the many changes to make the system a better place for youth.
