Projects Available for Pro Bono Attorneys
Legal services law firms occasionally have need for assistance with organized projects (other than direct litigation) to provide legal assistance to a group of clients. For example, these might include:
* Pro se clinics - to help mulitiple low-income clients complete forms (one-on-one)
* Amicus briefs - to support impact cases.
* Advance directives - to assist clients with documents such as health care powers of attorney and living wills
* Ad hoc client group assistance - to provide support to legal services staff when large numbers of clients are affected by an issue (e.g., natural disasters, corporate bankruptcy, etc.).
* Advisor pools - to serve as consultants to legal services staffs, particularly on speciality type areas (e.g., tax, real estate, bankruptcy).
The key to this type of pro bono service is to contact your local legal services law firm and volunteer for the types of projects for which you might consider providing pro bono service.
