Cleveland County Volunteer Lawyers Recognized

Nicole Greene and Jeannette Reeves, attorneys who provide services to clients through the Volunteer Lawyers Program, were recognized for their outstanding pro bono contributions at the Cleveland County Bar meeting on Tuesday, March 27, 2012.

Becki Lowder, Coordinator for the Volunteer Lawyers Program in the Legal Aid of North Carolina's Gastonia office, presented the awards.

Ms. Reeves was the recipient of the VLP's 2011 Distinguished Service Award, having provided in excess of 50 hours to clients whose cases closed in 2011. Reeves is an associate at Teddy, Meekins and Talbert, PLLC in Shelby.

Ms. Greene received the VLP's Service Award, logging 40+ hours to clients referred to her through Legal Aid. Greene is the founder of the Law Office of Nichole B. Greene, PLLC in Shelby.

Lowder praised the Cleveland Bar for their strong pro bono commitment and for their increase in overall participation in the VLP. The pro bono contribution in dollars in 2011 from this bar exceeded $45,000. The majority of cases handled by volunteers were in the areas of family law and unemployment benefits appeals.
