Hurricane Relief Call-In Center Volunteers Needed

Legal Assistance Call Center Operating at LSU; Attorney Volunteers Needed

The Louisiana Legal Assistance Call Center is up and running at its new location at Louisiana State University's Paul M. Hebert Law Center. The Call Center is being staffed Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and can be reached at 1-800-310-7029. The Call Center is in need of attorney volunteers to offer free legal advice to questions posed from survivors of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, as well as the 2008 storms Gustav and Ike. Of particular need are attorneys who can offer a physical presence at the Call Center to provide immediate answers to legal concerns, but attorneys throughout the state can participate by offering to take on cases generated by the Call Center.

LSU Law Center students are handling call intake. Only non-fee-generating cases are being handled through the Center. Individuals with fee-generating cases are being referred to lawyer referral services. To volunteer to provide legal assistance to storm victims, click here.
