The 2010 Louisiana State Bar Association Pro Bono Publico & Children’s Law Awards


The Louisiana State Bar Association is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2010 Friend of Pro Bono Award, Pro Bono Publico Award, Career Public Interest Award, the David A. Hamilton Lifetime Achievement Award, the Law Student Pro Bono Award, and the Children’s Law Award. Awards will be presented at a pro bono reception on May 25, 2010.

  • 2010 David A. Hamilton Lifetime Achievement Award The David A. Hamilton Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes a Louisiana attorney who demonstrates a commitment to the provision of legal services to the poor, has made significant contributions to enhance the pro bono movement in Louisiana over their lifetime, and has shown significant leadership and service on behalf of the poor and disenfranchised.  Marta Ann Schnabel, New Orleans, LA 
  • 2010 Career Public Interest Award This award recognizes any individual (attorney or non-attorney) in the state of Louisiana who has devoted at least 10 years of his/her career to public interest legal work; demonstrated excellence in his or her work; demonstrated leadership within his/her organization; and provided significant service on behalf of the poor and disenfranchised.   • 2010 Pro Bono Publico Award This award recognizes an attorney, or law firm, that has provided pro bono legal services to the citizens of Louisiana that meets or exceeds the aspirational goal of providing 50 hours of pro bono services per year, as established in Rule 6.1 of Louisiana's Rules of Professional Conduct.

The direct provision of legal services is not to be considered for this award.
