JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Homeless Outreach and Clinic Coordinator

Description: Primary responsibility as the Homeless Outreach Coordinator for The Project. As Clinic Coordinator will supervise all the clinical programs of The Project and work with staff and volunteers to provide and support quality service delivery mechanisms within the organization. Duties to include:

1. Responsibility for outreach programs in the area of homeless advocacy as well as coordination of The Pro Bono Project's other civil legal clinics. Visiting the sites on a regular basis, serving as the liaison between the clinics and site directors.

2. Planning and producing substantive training and support for volunteers staffing Project's outreach programs.

3. Promoting the Project's Outreach Legal programs through oral and written presentations.

4. Assist with the development of additional outreach clinics as program resources provide and need exist.

5. Assist with referrals of eligible clients to volunteer attorneys.

6. Maintain appropriate documentation related to given caseload, using case management systems.

7. Ensure that statistics and reports are prepared as required by contacts and grants.

8. Assist in overall program development; grant writing, resource development, as needed to help ensure continuation of programs.

9 Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Must possess at minimum a bachelor's degree in related field. MS in Social Work preferred. Previous experience with volunteer programs and demonstrated knowledge of providing services to low income person. Past grant management and program development extremely helpful. Excellent writing, computer, organizational and communication skills. Team player and ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people from varied backgrounds.

Salary: Starting salary depends upon experience and qualifications, with a minimum salary of $30,000. Position includes full fringe benefit package.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Family Law Staff Attorney

Description: Primary responsibility will be to manage our Family Law program. As staff attorney you will be responsible for handling a caseload as well as working with paralegals and volunteers.

Duties to include:
1. Managing and supervising the existing Divorce Workshop program in Orleans and Jefferson parishes; revising the training for volunteers to include property issue and domestic violence checklists.

2. Exploring the possibilities of expanding the Divorce Workshop program to further parishes, and of developing a pro se 103 divorce handout package.

3. Managing and supervising the Children's Law Program, including both CINC and custody programs; administering the fee requests and reimbursements on CINC cases; providing training in CINC issues; representing children at hold order hearings and until a permanent volunteer is secured; identifying and transitioning the CINC volunteer attorneys; representing children in custody cases as requested by CDC; identifying and training volunteers to do the same; identifying and training volunteers to facilitate consent agreements on visitation and custody issues between pro se litigants at CDC.

4. Assess for merit requests for legal assistance on family law issues; provide informal assistance to those clients deemed not to need legal assistance; assist with referrals of eligible clients to volunteer attorneys; represent clients on an as-needed basis.

5. Maintain appropriate documentation related to given caseload, using case management systems.

6. Ensure that statistics and reports are prepared as required by contacts and grants.

Qualifications: Must possess JD, be an active member of LSBA, and possess basic knowledge of family law. Knowledge of juvenile law, and experience in both family and juvenile law, helpful but not mandatory. Previous experience with volunteer programs and demonstrated knowledge of providing services to low income person desirable. Excellent writing, organizational, and communication skills. Team player and ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people.

Salary: Range from High 30's to low 40's depending upon experience. Fringe benefit package provided.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Staff Attorney - Successions and Wills

Description: Primary responsibility will be to assist and expand our Successions for Katrina Survivors Project. As staff attorney you will be responsible for handling a caseload as well as assist in expanding capacity in this specialty area by working with volunteers. Duties to include:

1. Expanding outreach to areas currently underserved, particularly in St. Tammany, Washington and St. Bernard parishes.

2. Managing and staffing additional outreach legal clinics as needs exist.

3. Assist with referrals of eligible clients to volunteer attorneys.

4. Assist in planning and producing substantive training and support for volunteers staffing Project's outreach programs.

5. Assist in promotion of Succession program through oral and written presentations.

6. Maintain appropriate documentation related to given caseload and grants, using case management systems and statistical grant reports.

7. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Must possess JD and be an active member of LSBA. Basic knowledge of Successions and Wills law helpful but not mandatory. Previous experience with volunteer programs and demonstrated knowledge of providing services to low income persons a plus. Excellent organization, communication and writing skills required. Must have transportation and ability to travel to outreach clinics. Team player and ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people.

Salary: Range from High 30's to low 40's depending upon experience. Fringe benefit package provided.
