HOUMA - The Terrebonne Economic Development Authority (TEDA) is hostinga free technical assistance class entitled Consumer Protection: Credit, Debt Collection and Fraudulent Lending presented by Attorney Kassie Liner Hargis of Southeast Louisiana Legal Services. The class will be held at the East Houma Branch Library on Monday, October 8 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
This seminar will provide consumers with information to better help understand:
Credit and debt
Steps to correct inaccurate reporting or fraudulent listings on credit reports
Common problem areas for debtors
Identity theft scams
Unfair debt collection and fraudulent lending practices
Self-help vs. seeking professional assistance when facing credit problems
