Governor Deval Patrick proclaims October as Pro Bono Month in Massachusetts

Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick has declared all of October as Pro Bono Month in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Patrick cited the overwhelming need of "countless Americans" who "cannot afford the legal representation that they need to protect their lives, properties, and natural liberties." Patrick noted that the legal profession is unique in its ability to offer pro bono assistance "and in so doing , substantially enhance the distribution of justice and equality in their communities. "
The governor signed the proclamation on August 3, 2009.
