LSSM is sponsoring the "Domestic Violence Laws Update" on October 28, 2011, from 1:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. The seminar will be presented live at the Library Center, 4653 South Campbell in Springfield, Missouri, and presented via video conference at LSSM's offices in Cape Girardeau, Charleston, Rolla and West Plains. To find an office visit http://www.lsosm.org/contact/. This program is offered to educate and increase awareness about the new domestic violence laws passed during the 95th General Assembly. Domestic Violence is a serious public health and civil/criminal justice issue that affects about 25 percent of women at some point in their lives. Women and men are not the only victims of this crime--children are also exposed to and affected by witnessing this violence. This program will highlight the work done by Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster and the Domestic Violence Task Force; a review of Senate Bill 320; and the courts perspective. This training is offered free to LSSM Pro Bono and Judicare Panel Members, victim advocates and any other helping professionals. Registration is required. You may register online by clicking the register button below; or by contacting Sharon Alexander at 417.881.1397, ext. 1327; or email at firstname.lastname@example.org; or by fax at 417.881.2159.
