This training is recommended for attorneys seeking immigration litigation pro bono opportunities, or for those interested in increasing their knowledge of immigration law.
Invited Faculty include Hon. Robert Katzmann of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, New York Immigration Court Judges, DHS Assistant Chief Counsel,
and local non?profit and private bar practitioners.

Topics covered during the training will include:
An introduction to the immigration court
Immigration court procedures including the specifics for detained cases
Preparing for an asylum hearing
Ethical issues in removal proceedings
Representing non?citizens with criminal convictions, detained and non?detained ? Cancellation of removal
Taking a case/mentoring role

This transitional continuing legal education program has been approved in accordance with the requirements of the Continuing Legal Education Board for a maximum of 8.0 credit hours, of which 7.0 credit hours can be applied toward the professional practice requirement and 1.0 credit hour can be applied toward the ethics requirement.


Cost: $12.00 to attend. Morning coffee, box lunch and CLE materials included in cost.

Participants are encouraged to attend a mock hearing on November 7, 2011 at the
New York City Immigration Court at 26 Federal Plaza, New York, New York 10278.
