We will offer a groundbreaking CLE on the mental health effects of high stress representation, such as domestic violence, child abuse and criminal defense, exploring "vicarious trauma" or "secondary PTSD" in advocates. Emerging research shows that high-conflict attorneys experience secondary trauma at rates greater than even mental health or social services professionals and that education is needed to protect and guard against the effects of trauma in attorneys.
