Low-income landlords do exist! They may have a family member in the house who is not paying rent. Or, they may be a senior whose sole asset is the home and, after renting out a room to help make ends meet, end up with a tenant on their hands who is not on the lease but refuses to move out. At this informative, substantive training, volunteers will learn how to complete an unlawful detainer action from the landlord's perspective. Other topics to be covered include: notice to quit, summons and complaint, service, and trial preparation.

  • CLE Credit Comments: Two MCLE credits are available at this training. This training is offered for free in exchange for the commitment to volunteer at the VLSC Low-Income Landlord Eviction Assistance Clinic 6 times in the next year or to take on two pro bono cases in the next year.
