Please join us on Monday, April 7, 2008 for a specialized training in gender-based, (including domestic violence and female genital cutting) and sexual orientation-based asylum claims. Panelists will discuss techniques of representing asylum applicants, recent developments in this specialized area of asylum law, as well as perspectives on these claims from both the U.S. government and UNHCR, the U.N. refugee organization. Representatives from Human Rights First, UNHCR, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the Tahirih Justice Center, and the Whitman Walker clinic will be present to discuss these issues.
The training will take place at the law firm of Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP, located at 875 15th Street NW. The firm is located at the McPherson Square metro station on the Blue and Orange Line. Please arrive 15 minutes early to sign-in.
